Learn about our mission to serve seniors and persons with disabilities in Shellbrook
The Woodland Bus Association is a registered charitable organization (Charity #119303386RR0001) that operates independently of any government agency, school, or healthcare institution. We are a grassroots, community-based nonprofit run entirely by dedicated volunteers and supported by generous donations from individuals and local businesses.
Founded by community members who recognized the critical transportation gap facing vulnerable populations in rural Saskatchewan, we exist solely to serve those who might otherwise be isolated due to lack of accessible transportation options. We are not a public transit service—we are neighbors helping neighbors through charitable work.
Woodland Bus Association is a volunteer-driven, community-based charitable organization dedicated to removing transportation barriers for vulnerable populations. Through generous donor support and the dedication of community volunteers, we provide accessible transportation for seniors and individuals with disabilities who lack access to conventional transportation options—helping them maintain independence, access essential services, and stay connected with their community.
Guiding principles that drive our commitment to the community
As an independent charitable organization, we envision a community where no senior or person with a disability is isolated due to lack of transportation. Through volunteer dedication and donor generosity, we work to ensure everyone can access essential services and stay connected with their community.
We treat every passenger with dignity, respect, and understanding. Our drivers and volunteers are trained to provide patient, caring assistance to those with mobility challenges and special needs.
We maintain high standards in vehicle safety, driver training, and customer service. Our commitment to excellence ensures passengers feel confident and comfortable on every journey.
Purpose-built vehicles designed for accessibility and comfort
Our primary vehicle features a hydraulic wheelchair lift, comfortable seating, and climate control. This bus is used continuously by local long-term care residents and senior groups, accommodating passengers who require wheelchairs and mobility aids.
Our van provides personalized transportation for individual seniors and residents with medical needs. It's wheelchair accessible and perfect for medical appointments, personal errands, and family visits when one-on-one service is required.
Our services are available to community members who need accessible transportation
We serve seniors who may no longer drive or prefer not to, helping them maintain their independence and stay active in the community through regular transportation to appointments, shopping, and social activities.
Our wheelchair-accessible vehicles ensure that persons with physical disabilities can travel comfortably and safely. We accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids.
We work closely with local long-term care facilities to provide regular transportation for residents, enabling them to attend medical appointments, family visits, and community outings.
We support families and caregivers by providing reliable transportation for their loved ones, reducing the burden of transportation logistics and giving caregivers peace of mind.
The Woodland Bus Association proudly serves Shellbrook, Saskatchewan, and the surrounding rural communities. We understand the unique transportation challenges faced by residents in rural areas, where public transit options are limited or non-existent.
